This handbill from 1964 is a very early example of the Bay Area’s concern that the policy of President Johnson was doomed to failure. THE BLUNT TRUTH IS, THE FRENCH, AFTER LOOSING HALF A MILLION SOLDIERS FOUND, AND WE A FINDING, THERE CAN BE NO VICTORY IN SUCH A SITUATION. OUR PRESENT POLICY CAN ONLY WORK TO THE DISCREDIT OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY. U.S.TROOPS SHOULD BE WITHDRAWN AND THE SOUTH VIETNAMESE PEOPLE ALLOWED TO DETERMINE THEIR OWN FUTURE.
